OUR HISTORY |
|
Both Dawn and Mark grew up in Shropshire with dogs playing a large part of their lives. On buying a house together the one obvious missing ingredient was dogs as they had both been used to having canine companions around them. Although Dawn and Mark had been brought up with different breeds they both decided that their hearts lay with hounds. The breed they both agreed on was the Rhodesian Ridgeback and so Tarda, the first Ridgeback came from a small breeder just up the road them them. |

Tarda was purely a pet but Mark was itching to have a dog to show as growing up he had handled many hounds. Many different breeds, some owned by Mark, most belonging to his mother, Jocelyn Duddell (Canerekie). So in came Kiera with some surprising success in the ring, she was pretty striking, catching the eye of many judges. Sadly this was short lived, at the age of two and a half she developed cancer, at such a young age and it took hold very qickly. Thankfully she was only ill for a short time and was given sleep before she sufferred too much. |
| In between having Tarda and Kiera, Power came along - ex Racing Greyhound (see his page) who fitted in just fine, living in the house, sleeping on the settee as if he had always done it. | ![]() |

With Dawn and Mark being involved with Deerhounds at this time, (mainly through Margaret Gomm) Mark was handling a Deerhound of Margaret's Gentom Ilona. The temptation to have a Deerhound became too strong, It was at this point that Mark re-aquainted with all the friendly Deerhound folk, which increased the temptation to own a Deerhound. The crunch came after visiting his mother Joss, Dawn began getting very attached to one puppy in particular Seren. After some careful consideration on both sides they eventually brought her home. A strong bond developed between Dawn and the puppy and now Dawn and Mark have three.
